The Marine Corps has many standards and the most apparent one seems to be the weight standards. Health Promotion offers many classes to assist in maintaining an appropriate weight, losing weight successfully and safely, and basic nutrition. This brief is approximately 30-60 minutes in length dependent upon class participation. We can conduct a one on one consult, a section brief or a unit level brief.
Along with nutrition, Health Promotion offers briefs in tobacco use and prevention, physical activity, injury prevention, dietary supplements, weight management, sexual health and responsibility, and chronic disease prevention to include (but not limited to): stress management, hypertension education and control, mental health, diabetes, cancer, high cholesterol, and osteoporosis. Along with many briefs we offer monthly events. These range from the Great American Smoke Out, where a pig lung that has been exposed to tobacco smoke is on display, to cholesterol information being on display at the chow hall and dancing with Captain 5 a Day at the Cherry Tree House. Please contact Health Promotion at 466-6467 to schedule a brief, obtain more information or request a special brief. We have subject matter experts available to teach many different topics. We look forward to educating you and your Marines and Sailors.
