Month of the Military Child

April is Month of the Military Child, throughout which we celebrate our military children and honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide. The military child is expected to support the mission by understanding the needs of the parents to deploy, to relocate, and to put the family’s needs second to the call of duty. Check out what you can do this month in honor of military kids.

Military Kids Rock! (all month long)

Pick up a rock painting kit at the Station Library, Two Rivers Theater, or Easter Brunch at Miller’s Landing. After you paint your rock, take a picture and then hide or share it with a friend. When out in the community, if you come across a cool rock, it’s yours to take, leave, or share. Be sure to share pictures of these rocks on social media using the hashtag, #CherryPointKidsRock.

Military Kids Bloom! (all month long)

Pick up a seed kit at the Station Library, Easter Brunch at Miller’s Landing, or the Touch a Truck event on April 14. Plant your seeds, take a picture, and share on social media using the hashtag, #CherryPointKidsBloom.

Touch a Truck (Apr. 14)

Come join us at the Touch a Truck event on Wednesday, April 14 from 9-11 a.m. Vehicles will be on display on Lenoir Road adjacent to Lanham Field. Get an up-close look at some cool vehicles, take some pictures, then stop by the EFMP playground for a few trips down the slide.

Purple Up for Military Kids (Apr. 16)

Wear your favorite purple apparel on Friday, April 16 to show your support for our military kids.

Military Kids Rock at the Movies (Apr. 21)

Bring your family to the Two Rivers Theater on Wednesday, April 21. Kids can walk the purple carpet, take pictures, and chalk their own sidewalk star. Take in a special family friendly performance from the 2D MAW Band at 5:30 p.m., then enjoy Lego Movie 2: The Second Part at 6 p.m., in a sensory friendly environment.
